My practice

I have recently graduated from Cardiff School of Art & Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University in Ba(hons) Fine Art. Throughout my third year I explored the essence of landscape painting through the medium of acrylic paint. My practice’s focus is on the emotional attachments and longing I continue to explore of my home town Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Artist Statement

My practice revolves around the notion of home. Blaenau Ffestiniog and my family's heritage has great influence on my work ranging from the culture to the history. I explore these concepts through painting landscapes and spaces as a reflection of the feelings of longing for home. The landscapes I paint are often of Ffestiniog or of a space where I felt closer to home.

As an artist I have always been interested in the ways spaces and landscapes has an influence on people and their identity. The aim of my practice is to paint landscapes which the audience can build their own personal reflections and concepts from as a response to their experience from viewing my work as well as becoming a part of the space I curate. It is a reminder for those who can relate to my practice that home is only a distance away however we can relive the memories and emotions continuously through different landscapes.
